1st Pumpkins

Yes, we did put Zoe and Ella
inside of pumpkins for their First Halloween.
I still think it's funny : )

Pumpkin Time

Sunday evening we turned the pumpkins Ella and Zoe chose from our trip to the apple orchard into Jack'O'Lanterns.

Ella wanted her pumpkin to have a sad face with eyebrows, but without a nose or any eyes.
Like this (minus her nose and eyes):

Zoe wanted a kitty face, just like how hers was painted.

And since Tom is much better at carving pumpkins than I am, he was in charge of all that fun stuff while I manned the camera.

First he used a pencil and tried to capture the girls' jack-o-lantern visions (he only had to erase a few times before he got it 'right').

Then it was time to cut, carve, scoop and sort . . .

Zoe requested a hair accessory change (for herself) only once . . . .

. . . while Ella was content wearing her witch's dress and only wanted the orange circle painted on her cheek. It was a pumpkin without a stem, just like the pumpkin she chose.

Then it was time to light the candles.
(Tom loves using his mini-blow torch whenever he gets a chance)
Love Ella's expression : )

The Cow Train Video

This is not quality video, but I think it's so funny.
Maybe you had to be there, but it makes me laugh a lot : )

Apple Orchard

We went to my favorite apple orchard yesterday afternoon.
I love that place : )

Zoe told us this pumpkin looked like a bum,
so of course she was the model : )

We picked apples . . .

. . . and tasted them too!

Look at the face Ella made on her apple : )

This is the sign we saw after we picked (and ate) a few apples. Oooops!

After the girls had their faces painted,
we spent time at the petting zoo,

the playground,

and the bales of hay.

The girls also went on the 'Cow Train' and it was one of the funniest things I have ever watched. Zoe and Ella had fun but I think they were in a bit of shock at how fast it went and how bumpy the ride was.

Such good times!!

The First Two Scarecrows

Ella and Zoe were only 6 months for their 1st Halloween
and during that crazy time of having two babies we didn't get around to making one. But for the girls' 2nd Halloween (they were 18 months old), I had two big helpers and our family tradition began : )

Ella wore the pants in our family . . .

. . . but Zoe gave a hand.

Checking out Mr. Pumpkin Man,
but not too sure about it all.

Zoe and Ella were 2 1/2 for their 3rd Halloween
and were really into the whole scarecrow-making process.
They thought it was so funny when we put only the pants on the chair.

And they took their job of stuffing newsprint in the shirt . . .

. . . very seriously.

Last year they couldn't get enough of Mr. Pumpkin Man.
We kept him inside for a few days and the girls sat on his lap, read books to him, took his head off . . . . those sorts things.

And before we went Trick-or-Treating
they even had to say goodbye to their Mr. Pumpkin Man.
He was kind of part of the family : )
