One Day

The girls had their Christmas Pageant at preschool two days ago. They wore snowflake crowns and all of the kids looked so cute -- but my camera only took fuzzy pictures.

My memories though are clear, like this moment -- not a good picture, but it always makes me smile when I see Ella and Zoe holding hands.

After the program the kids decorated Gingerbread Houses.

Tom and I helped too ....

.... but only a little because these girls knew exactly how they wanted to decorate their creations ....

Ella's little half-smile just cracks me up.

... and so do the outfits Zoe and Ella chose for ballet class that afternoon.

It was the last class before Christmas break and to celebrate all the ballerinas were encouraged to wear something special. Zoe and Ella chose the recital costumes their cousin Elise wore 15 years ago (and when they wear them I always feel like I'm back in the 1970's hanging out with Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette). But because they both wanted to wear the red one, and since it was Zoe's day and she got to choose, and because Ella wasn't very happy because she didn't get to wear the red one -- I told her she looked just like Dolly Parton (her favorite singer), instead of Tammy Wynette. That perked her up a bit and she went with it, grudgingly -- but Zoe was really happy.

Once they got dancing she was fine though .....

.... she was even the first chosen to lead her classmates in ballet steps.

Then it was Zoe's turn ....

The tall girl in the back is a sweet, older student of Ms. Zachari and was the helper for the day.

Ella was somewhat fascinated by her.

I think Zoe looks like a little doll in this photo, just dancing her little heart out ....

... and I love how much Ella is having fun : )

Zoe twirled and twirled and twirled ....

.... so much she said she got dizzy ....

.... and had to stop, get her balance and then twirl the other direction.

And like I said, Ella just had a blast once she got going .....

After such a busy day I thought for sure these two would take a good nap once we got home.

That didn't happen -- but they did really enjoy eating their gingerbread houses : )

It was a very full, very fun day ..... and made even sweeter than the gingerbread houses and candy because Grama Dianne was with us too!

Unfortunately, the pictures didn't capture the faces of the parents and grandparents during both the program and dance class....Such beaming smiles and laughter. It was indeed a fun but busy day.

As always, they did a great job on both places.

PS: Thanks for the Christmas card is so pretty.

Have a wonderful weekend.

I love the dance pictures, and I'm cracking up at the country music references! I have several of my dance costumes (from a few more than 15 years ago!) in a suitcase in the garage...I saved them just in case I had a little girl. :) :) I need to get out there, I guess this spring, and take a look. If they're not rotten (ugh!), I'm sure the girls will get a kick out of them in another couple of years.

I have been meaning to drop my dance teacher an email (I reconnected with her on Facebook earlier this year). I have thought a few times recently how much fun it was to celebrate during that last dance class before the holidays. :) I know your girls are building wonderful memories, too.
